At the beginning of the term, I was looking back and trying to think what have we accomplished over the years and I find that we slacked off a bit in terms of spiritual growth. LIke we have a lot of, I guess, fun progs, like potluck and games night. One thing I am trying to change this term is impose something deeper. Someting that pokes at them deeper. For example, the prog we have this wed is to have a skit on hope. Last b/s, we studied the rich young man, the one who asked Jesus how he could go about inheriting eternal life (start with a simple passage). THe problem with that guy is he is more into his wealth than eternal life, which is his obstacle for obtaining eternal life.
So, this wed, we are going to have a skits night. For application purposes, we will make each group do a skit similar to this passage. We have three topics: school work, games/facebook/drama/youtube, and laziness. All these things are prob the most common factors that prevents ppl to serving and actively involved in a fellowship. We want them to create a skit that revolves around one of the topics. Of course, to make it less surface, I propose putting constraints. I want them to show the struggles of the "target", the struggles of the ppl trying to help the "target", the process of convincing (a bible verse or passage could be used to help justify the process) and conclusion. The point is to really let them think about these obstacles and how to deal with it.
I think it's a fairly decent prog, but I can only come up with one prog. I am out of ideas already. The others ones I had are too deep.. like a silent walk in the park and pray.. ( I actally like that one), but it's a bit too hard for them. I want something that actually speaks to them, and they don't go with the model answer.
So, I need some suggestions.... :D or tell me if i m heading in the right direction.
