Lent

After a couple days of "lent", I realized I misunderstood the meaning of lent. I know a couple of my non-christian friends are lenting as well. One of them stop eating out. I have always wonder what lent really is. At first, I thought it was about giving up something and that's it.

Until recently, like last night, I looked up the definition of lent in wikipedia. Lent is the period of 40 days before easter. In this period, christians are to prepare themselves - through praying and fasting - for Easter. This is in rememberance of Jesus when he was in the dsert for forty days, enduring the temptations from the devil.

I realized, I wasn't really doing my lent right. I am giving up video games, not playing them. But, I am finding alternate form of entertainment. As I was talking to C-bean about this, and we come to the conclusion that I wasn't doing it the right way. I just want to say I screwed up. I am just restricting myself from playing games, to show that I am giving up something. But it doesn't really prepare me for Easter in any way.

Now, I think I know what lent is about. I am going to spend about 15 - 30 minutes of my day, to write a journal, about what God has done for me in the past. His disciplines, His words and His grace.

In the end, would like to share with you guys this song. I think it rocks. Forgot where I heard it, but I wrote it down as a note. I think it's Christmas. Whoever sang it must've done a good job.
